Description
In 1949, Le Corbusier conceived the Applique d’entrée des apartments, a wall lamp of curved metal sheet to enlighten the entrances of the Unité d’Habitation in Marseille, the housing unit symbol of the Modern Movement in its architectural and urbanistic conception. Using a distinctive silhouette, the Master designed the paradigm of the wall lamp, giving it the maximum efficiency while hiding the light source. The light emission can be arranged as desired, downlight or uplight for direct or diffused light. The colours are the same as those adopted for the Unité d’Habitation: the iconic red, blue, white, orange and green.
