Description
The D1 Cube Armchair, which Tecta produced based on the original by Peter Keler, was one of the most radical object approaches of its time. From the D1 Armchair and its typical cubic posture, Keler later developed the 2 and 3-seater Cube Sofa together with Tecta. The same architectural idea of a cubic piece of furniture is inherent in both.
Peter Keler is one of the central figures who had a lasting impact on Tecta’s Bauhaus DNA. Peter Keler worked for around seven years starting in 1975 as a “tecta employee,” as he described himself. In 1981 he wrote to Paul Klee’s son, Felix Klee in Bern, a German-Swiss art historian and painter, and signed the letter from Lauenförde with “tecta -new bauhaus” as the sender. In doing so, he unwittingly laid the foundation for the current BauhausNowhaus edition, with which the company shows that the ideas of the Bauhaus are still as relevant today as they once were and should be continually developed further.
